For the next part of the programme, we went with Lorenzo on a questfor the “French sound.” We just had to give pride of place to Olivier Messiaen and hisCatalogue d’Oiseaux(Cata-logue of Birds) and return to Philippe Manoury’s music which had accompanied us at the last Competition withtwoétudes,RéseauxandDérèglement, commissioned for the event. In this programme, how could we not thinkof Tristan Murail and hisMandragore, and of the most French of the British, George Benjamin, with hisPiano Figures? We will also be delighted to present Lorenzo Soulès’s work based on his programmes on a tour in the Centre-Val-de-Loire Region and internationally. We wish you happy listening as you discover this quite outstanding artist!
