Born in Japan in 1998, Chisato Taniguchi began playing music at the age of 2 and piano the following year.
After graduating from the Toho-Gakuen Higher School of Music in Tokyo with Yumiko Meguri, the Japanese cultural foundation “Meiji Yasuda” awarded her a scholarship in 2021 to continue her studies for a master’s degree in piano at the Paris Conservatoire (CNSMDP), where she was admitted to Florent Boffard’s class. She also took lessons with Sébastien Vichard and Hae-Sun Kang (chamber music).
In 2022, she won Second prize at the 15th International piano competition of Orléans and the “Résidence Henri Dutilleux – Geneviève Joy” prize.
She also won First Prize at the 14th “Kyōgaku” Contemporary Music Performance Competition in Japan in 2020.
For the past few years, she has been performing regularly in concerts in Tokyo, sharing her passion for the contemporary repertoire and in particular works written by Japanese composer Atsuhiko Gondai.
In 2017, she was invited by Jugend Musiziert to play in a series of 6 concerts across Germany.
In the summer of 2022, she performed at the La Roque d’Anthéron International Piano Festival and gave a concert organised by Toppan Hall in Tokyo.
