1st International piano competition of Orléans 1994

The 1st International piano competition of Orléans took place from February 28th to March 6th in 1994 and has consecrated Shinji Urakabe, Hideki Nagano and Ananda Sukarlan as the 3 finalists of this year.

In addition to their prizes, these laureates played in Nice, at the Salle Cortot in Paris and also at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. Around twenty candidates met at the Salle de l’Institut and then at the Théâtre d’Orléans with the Orchestre d’Orléans conducted by Jean-Marc Cochereau. Among the works proposed during the competition : Cage, Stockhausen and Poulenc.
